About the Social Work Outreach Center

The UNH Social Work Outreach Center (SWOC) is an off-campus service-learning program created for the provision of outreach to the citizens and community agencies of the greater seacoast area. SWOC is located at the McConnell Center Community Campus (McCCC) in Dover, New Hampshire. SWOC is a new venture, implemented in the fall of 2007 by the UNH Social Work Department to provide undergraduate and graduate students with opportunities to apply knowledge and skills learned in the classroom to a community outreach setting.

Due to its location, SWOC has the unique opportunity of being able to easily access and work with community agencies housed within the McCCC and beyond. To date, there are more than a dozen agencies housed within the campus. These include, but are not limited to, Dover Adult Learning Center, HUB Family Resource Center, Dover Children's Center, Seacoast Hospice, Easter Seals, Strafford County Community Action Program, and the Dover Police Outreach Bureau’s Teen Center.
